Diamond Pokemon and Pokémon Pearl are role playing games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for Nintendo DS. With the spin-off of Pokemon Platinum, the games make up the 5th installment and 4th generation of the Pokemon series. Diamond Pokemon and Pokemon Pearl were first released in Japan on September 28, 2006, and then were later released to North America, Australia, and Europe.
Diamond Pokemon and Pokemon Pear trace the life and adventures of a young Pokémon trainer as they train and battle Pokémon while also battling and defusing the “bad guys”. The Pokemon games offer many great features, like Internet play over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, as well as changes to battle mechanics, while including older game concepts such as Pokemon contests. The games are independent of each other but feature largely the same plot and, while both can be played separately, it is necessary to trade between them in order to complete the game.
Overall, Pokemon fans give good reviews. For instance, they like the addition of the Wi-Fi features and the gameplay was solid. These games have sustained more success than Game Boy Advance with with around 15 million units sold worldwide. Diamond Pokemon and Pokemon Pearl have sold around 1 million more units than Ruby and Sapphire and almost 3 million more units than Fire Red and Leaf Green.
